Light Sheet Support Specialist

MBF Bioscience is seeking a Light Sheet Support Specialist to join our dedicated team! In this role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to interact with and support some of the world’s top neuroscientists, helping them advance scientific knowledge through our innovative microscopy image analysis software and computer-controlled microscope systems.

 

Responsibilities

 

Technical Support:

    • Install and service our products with primary focus on SLICE, MBF’s Light Sheet Microscopy system
    • Provide remote and on-site technical support for MBF SLICE customers
    • Diagnose and resolve technical problems efficiently

 

Customer Training:

    • Conduct comprehensive training sessions for BrightSlice software and SLICE hardware
    • Assist researchers in study design, analysis pipelines, and parameter optimization

 

Field Work:

    • Travel to customer sites primarily within the United States for equipment installations and trainings.

 

Documentation:

    • Maintain detailed records of customer interactions and technical support cases
    • Contribute to internal knowledge base and procedural updates

 

Qualification

 

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in biology, neuroscience, or a related technical field
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills
    • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely
    • Experience with light sheet fluorescent microscopy (selective plane illumination microscopy) and clear tissue sample preparation is highly valued
    • Proficiency with other software-controlled fluorescent microscope systems is a plus
    • Knowledge of installing and troubleshooting computer peripherals is preferred
    • Willingness to travel

 

Senior FPGA Systems Engineer

MBF Bioscience is looking for a talented FPGA systems engineer that wants to work on the cutting edge of understanding brain function.  Design the next generation of hardware and software to control state of the art brain imaging systems.

 

Responsibilities

    • Develop FPGA designs to perform data acquisition, signal processing, and signal generation
    • Develop low-level kernel driver software to interface with FPGA device
    • Develop desktop applications that utilize FPGA based data acquisition systems

Required Skills

    • Strong proficiency with Verilog
    • At least 3 years writing large complex FPGA designs in Verilog
    • Strong proficiency with Vivado environment
    • Project and non-project design flows
    • Hierarchical design flows
    • Advanced timing closure techniques
    • Integrating high-level IP modules (PCI Express, JESD204B, etc.)
    • Developing original IP modules using IP packager
    • Experience targeting designs for the Xilinx Kintex Ultrascale platform
    • Partial reconfiguration / Dynamic Function eXchange
    • Clocking resources (MMCM/PLL)
    • I/O interfaces (SelectIO, GTH transceivers)
    • Working knowledge of circuit design and board level communication interfaces
    • LVDS, SPI, I2C, JESD204B
    • Experience interfacing with high-speed ADC and DAC components
    • Experience utilizing electronic test equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, logic analyzer)
    • Strong proficiency with C++/C
    • Experience with low-level device interfaces
    • Desired Skills
    • Experience implementing kernel mode device drivers for Windows OS
    • Proficiency with MATLAB
    • Proficiency with Python
    • Experience with scientific imaging techniques / fluorescence laser-scanning microscopy

Educational Requirements

 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or in related field
 

Software Developer

Interested in programmers at all experience levels to develop commercial scientific software in our web and desktop applications.

 

Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain our current suite of applications
    • Design and create new products for MBF Bioscience’s customers
    • Perform software and algorithm development and feasibility research for product development utilized in all current and future MBF software products
    • Create, maintain, and apply MBF coding standards
    • Integrate new hardware in MBF software products
    • Work with Product Managers to determine the priority and schedule for software features and requirements
    • Communicate algorithmic descriptions to other members of the R&D group in written and oral presentations
    • Use good software development practices to write code that fulfills feature requirements, is robust, and easily maintainable

Basic Qualifications

    • Experience programming using C++
    • Python, Qt, or MFC experience a plus
    • Passion for development and desire to learn
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills

Educational Requirements

 

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering
